Local trails
- Hopkins Land Park Run: A 5km community event to be enjoyed by all. You can run, jog or walk. This event takes place every Saturday at 8:00 am, and as the course is set in farmlands, ostriches and other bird and wildlife can be seen.
- Moodies Well Walk: Follow the sandy eastern sweep of San Sebastian Bay for approximately 4km to a well hand-dug in the 19th century to store water for camping and fishing trips. The walk should be done at low tide. Be amazed by the sand covered cliffs and rock pools teeming with sea creatures along this route.
- Puntjie Walk: Follow the coastline past Moodies Well. This route is approximately 15km one way from the parking area at the main swimming beach. This walk should not be attempted there and back in one day, and the best time is “Spring-Low” during the summer months.
- Witsand Nature Reserve: Situated above the jetty the Nature Reserve offers 5 short pet friendly routes. Come enjoy the magnificent views of the estuary while taking in the splendid Fynbos species along the route.

- DeHoop Nature Reserve: This diverse reserve offers both day as well as overnight hiking trails. They are also renowned for the famous Whale Trail, a multi-day hike that offers the chance to spot Southern Right whales along the coastline. 50km from Witsand
- Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve: Offering 250 hectares of indigenous forest. Visitors will relish in both hiking and mountain bike trails. Not only an excellent bird-watching destination, but visitors are also likely to bump into bushbuck and baboons. 61km from Witsand.
